On some level, Jack has always known there was an element of real pain involved, but hearing Genji talk about it so frankly is another thing entirely. He can’t very well ask Angela about what they talk about or what she prescribes him when he goes to see her (she’s steadfast about the doctor-patient confidentiality thing), but realizing that painkillers (presumably) are part of the mix sets him on edge.
