[Yes, look, of course they both know why he's here, but Jack is trying to be compassionate. Genji hasn't exactly been the most agreeable of new recruits--and despite the similarities between him and McCree, the circumstances are still vastly different, and Jack knows this is going to take a different approach. Genji isn't desperately looking for acceptance or approval. Genji just wants to not be half machine, which is not something Jack can fix, bastion of world peace or not. Genji doesn't care about who he is or what he can do for him.
He'd thought, perhaps, that this would be better for him (for anyone) than being dead. He hadn't quite anticipated these consequences.
Jack is here to talk about the mission, of course, but he also doesn't want to kick Genji while he's down. Perhaps, however, he hasn't caught onto the fact that maybe being nurturing and patient is just as infuriating as being stern.]
Can you tell me what happened? I'd like to hear it from you.
[A debriefing is one thing. Hearing why Genji chose to do what he did on the mission will be another. It might help him understand things a little better.]
