THE RANDOM SCENARIO MEME 3.0
- Post your character, name, and series in the subject. Include any preferences as well.
- Go to RNG and enter 1-7 for a scene type, and 1-20 for a scene to play out.
TYPE OF SCENE.
① Action → Gun fights, bar brawls, fights to the death are all possible scenarios.
② Angst → Characters suffer emotionally or physically from relationships breaking up, death, injury, etc. Hurt and comfort themes are included.
③ Crack → Genderswaps, super powers, sudden compulsions are all possible outcomes.
④ Fluff → Something that is devoid of angst. It's light-hearted and might have the overtone of romance.
⑤ Gen → General fun, things that didn't fit in the other categories.
⑥ Sex → First times, kinks, even dubcon are all possible themes of sex related scenarios.
⑦ Your choice → Think of your own scenario, choose one of the above or make a combo even!
ACTION.
① Zombies → It's the zombie apocalypse, lock and load!
② Bar brawl → You had one too many drinks, said something wrong, and now you're being asked to take it outside.
③ Chase → You're caught in a high speed chase.
④ Gun fight → You're caught in a big shoot-out.
⑤ Fight with a friend → You're fighting with a friend, all out.
⑥ Interrogation → You're being interrogated for some offense you've done.
⑦ Aliens → Aliens are attacking and you're not going to take your probe laying down!
⑧ Final battle → This is it. The battle that will end all the fighting for you. Will you win? Will you get that peace you want?
⑨ Training → You're not actually fighting, just training for the inevitable.
⑩ No hope → You know this fight has no hope. It's not going to end well for anyone involved, but you can't turn away.
⑪ Sneaking in → You're stealing a diamond or sneaking in to kick some bad guy butt, but whatever it is, you have to practice stealth.
⑫ Blue wire → You're faced with a bomb that needs to be disarmed.
⑬ Fight for honor → You've been disgraced or someone you care about has, so it's time to fight for honour.
⑭ Showdown → Time for a cowboy-style showdown. Whoever draws the fastest wins.
⑮ War → You're caught in the middle of a war here. Remember to keep your chin up and keeping fighting.
⑯ Apocalypse → The apocalypse finally happened and now you're left to scavenge and fight for whatever is left.
⑰ Sabotage → It's time to sabotage someone's plan! How is entirely up to you. Do you set up a bomb in their toilet? Do you double cross them at the last minute?
⑱ Big damn hero → You know you have to handle this one alone, so that means disarming or knocking unconscious the person who wants to join you.
⑲ Fight club → You know the rules... you're in an underground fighting ring and you're fighting with all you've got.
⑳ Threaten → You've just been sent here to rough them up a little, threaten them into behaving.
ANGST.
① Injury / illness → Your character has become injured or ill! To what extent is the mun's choice.
② Last moments → You character has been gravely injured and this is their last chance to say their last words.
③ Depression → Your character is depressed, what actions they take is up to the mun.
④ Betrayed → You character has been betrayed by the other. How do they react?
⑤ Tortured → Your character is being tortured and needs rescuing or at least a sympathetic ear to help him through it.
⑥ Jealousy → Your character is feeling jealous and must deal with it, how will they do it?
⑦ Breakup! → This relationship has gone as far as it can, it's time to breakup.
⑧ Broken → For whatever reason, the character is broken, mentally or or physically.
⑨ Fight → You can't even be in the same room as your friend or lover without arguing anymore.
⑩ Lost → You lost the biggest fight of your life and now all you can do is try to pick up the pieces.
⑪ Worst nightmare → Whatever you fear the most is now real or maybe you're just trapped in a dream together, but whatever it is, it feels too real.
⑫ Addicted → You're addicted to something, alcohol, drugs, sex, whatever. It's destroying your life and you can't do anything to stop it.
⑬ Hurt you → You're being forced to hurt someone you love either by betraying them or even being forced to shout things you don't mean. It's for their own good in the end though.
⑭ Separation → You were forced to leave this person for their own safety and while you've been miserable without them, you really didn't mean to run into them again... maybe it was by accident or you were watching them from afar this whole time.
⑮ Becoming a monster → You are slowly changing, becoming a monster: vampire, zombie, demon, something you can't recover from and no-one can help you.
⑯ Frozen → You are entirely helpless, frozen, to stop some kind of disaster.
⑰ Prison → You were very bad and now it's time to pay the price by turning yourself in or maybe the law just finally caught up to you.
⑱ Fear → You're not sure why, but you are suddenly terrified and you can't deal with it. You need help.
⑲ Hated → You are now hated by the person you loved the most.
⑳ Down and out → You're living on the streets, you've hit rock bottom, and you don't know what to do.
CRACK.
① Sexswap → Uh-oh, you're suddenly the opposite sex!
② Forced confessions → No matter what it is and no matter how hard you resist, you're going to be compelled to spill some deep dark secret!
③ Mind-reading → You've suddenly got the ability to read minds!

④ Costume party → You're at a costume party, both of you are wearing masks. Do you keep the anonymity or take it off and see whose company you've been enjoying?
⑤ Wrong number → Oops, actually you didn't mean to call that person...
⑥ Drunk → You're already drunk! Drunk dialing, stumbling into someone, showing up unexpected... what type of drunk are you anyway? Aggressive, loving, happy? How does the other react?

[It's half-joked, but there's a certain seriousness to it. He's sure Ana has found somewhere to hole up just as he has, but the fact of the matter is that this is her turf. She'll be more likely to know what's safer, especially now that 76 has effectively waltzed up to the front door of a Talon facility and wreaked more than a little havoc.]

There's more than a little exasperation in the glance Ana shoots Jack at the joke, such as it is. It comes across more of a ghost of old humor than anything else. But they have bigger things to worry about right now, and she's said her piece on what she thinks of her operation being crashed. She adjusts the grip on her rifle and takes point.]

[It should probably not be much of a surprise when it's revealed that Ana's 'place' is a cave in a cliff face. Above the high walls and obscuring trees, it has a perfect view of Hakim's (now ruined) compound and the desert around it, not allowing for much surprise from Ana's perch. She keeps an eye out as she leads Jack to her hideout, but all things considered, she's honestly not too concerned about Gabe coming back for a second round so soon. Not after what she saw.
She's quick to push that from her mind. She already has one ghost to take care of, and Jack's always been a handful. Once they're in the confines of the cave, she speaks.]
For a dead man, you're certainly looking well these days.
[She says it in the middle of propping her rifle up against a cave wall and working to pack what meager belongings she brought with her. There's a note of fondness to her voice that she can't help. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Ana's had an eye shot out, Jack went through an explosion, and yet he still needs Ana to save his ass.]
grandpa cannot be tamed
Underneath all that, there's creeping bitterness that he tries to force down. He knows he should just be happy that she's alive, and he's found her, and that she's willing to follow him without question, but the fact of the matter is that she allowed him to believe she was dead. He's vaguely aware that she's perhaps a bit exasperated with him, but his thoughts aren't exactly on her feelings at the moment.]
You're one to talk.
[He follows her into the cave (of course it's a cave--where else are you going to stake out), only setting down his own gun when he sees her put her weapon aside.
Fondness or not in her voice, he sounds just a touch hurt when he fires back.]

That's fine. They should probably kill some time before they properly head out anyway, reduce risk of being scouted for by any of Hakim's forces that may have made it through the assault.]
I failed, Jack.
[She says it without hesitation or reservation, looking Jack straight in the face, or mask, as she says it. She's had time to accept what happened that day. At this point it's an unfortunate fact, names and faces she'll carry with her and try to do better for.]
I let people die on my watch. People who were relying on me to protect them. I needed time to recover and realize that it didn't mean it was time to pack it in.
[Her steady eye contact has another, more subtle point to it. Given his new identity, she's fairly certain he knows more about what she's saying than he'd care to admit, what with being too busy trying to take potshots at her instead. So she'll make her point with one of her own.]
Have you told Reinhardt that you're alive? Or Angela?

[Truthfully, Jack doesn't want to have this argument either, but he blurts it anyway because he's been holding onto it for years. He still remembers screaming for her after they lost contact, not knowing if she purposefully turned off her comm or if she'd been taken out. So he's quick to correct her, pulling his mask off again but not joining her in sitting.]
I lead that mission. It was on me.
[And you let me think I got you killed, is the implication. Jack has always been adamant that the buck stopped with him, and apparently this was no exception. Surely she was aware of how he would take it.
On some level, he knows this is both selfish and hypocritical, making it all about his feelings when he's also allowed the world to believe he was dead, but he's had this pent up for a long time. Looking back, he'd pinpoint this failed mission as the straw that broke the camel's back in the prolonged, painful deterioration of his relationship with Reyes.
He seems to lose some energy all at once, shoulders sagging.]

Look at you. All these years and you still refuse to let anyone but yourself take the blame.
[It'd be funny, if she wasn't still being struck by the image he cast now, old and worn and tired. Both of them older, but the years have been far less kind to Jack than they have to her. Or perhaps he hasn't let them be kind, too focused on his self-perceived war. She wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.]
I am sorry I hurt you. But surely you realize how hypocritical you sound.
[She thinks of Reinhardt, the way the old knight had struggled to deliver his eulogy for an old friend, one whose body he didn't have the benefit of burying. She thinks of Angela, so young and awed by the three of them, how she must have suffered.
She thinks of Fareeha, the holodisc that contains her picture burning at her chest. There's a brief, hot welling of anger in Ana's chest, aimed at both herself and Jack, but it's gone as soon as it had come.]
Do you plan to tell them, or are you content continuing the same mistake that injured you so?
[Her tone isn't accusing or unkind. She's not trying to twist the knife. But she hadn't been Jack's second for coddling him, and she's not about to start now.]

That's the whole point, he thinks. They need his memory intact. Jack has already failed them once. He's not about to let them carry on with the knowledge that he's planting bombs and attacking government agencies.]

[She is maybe a little offended that he can throw accusations at her without trouble, but the second it's turned on him it's 'not that simple'. She crosses her arms, shooting him a pointed look that speaks more than enough about what she thinks about that, before she moves on to his second point.]

[Of course she'd dug around. You couldn't remain much of an effective ghost if you didn't find a way to keep up with the world. It's likely she found out about the recall after he did, she hadn't been digging into Overwatch so specifically, but she'd uncovered it all the same. The thought of it...
Her gaze finally moves away from Jack, settling at some random point on the cave wall. Concern is clear on her face. She's worried, of course.]
I hope they know what they're doing. Those children don't deserve being burned a second time.
[When her attention returns to Jack, it's a couple of seconds before she tacks on, tone exasperated,] At least sit down. It's completely unnecessary for you to be making me hurt my neck looking up at you.

But it’s easier to talk about whatever Winston and Lena think is a good idea, so he acquiesces and takes a seat next to her, leaning forward a little to scrub a hand through his hair. He sighs audibly.]
They don’t know what they’re doing.
[That’s the thing—the museum proved that well enough. Their enemies are greater than they know, and Winston’s idealism will only get them so far. 76 is almost angry at his younger self, for instilling that in him in the first place. If they want to restart Overwatch, they can’t do it with the knowledge of who he is now or what he’s doing. Better for them to have their statues and plaques and memory of him. Better to have hope, not anger—that’s for old soldiers like him. The path he’s walking is one of revenge, and it only leads one place.]
The UN won’t let it go on much longer. Next stunt they pull’s gonna land them in maximum security.

Still, Ana wants to believe that the situation is not quite as bleak as Jack paints it.]
Did we know what we were doing back then?
[When Overwatch was first formed. Truly formed. Back during the Crisis, when it had been nothing more than a handful of people fighting back against the omnics, striving to survive and bring the world back from the brink of destruction. They'd had support, but they'd also had incredibly overwhelming odds to face, emotionless machines who would stop at nothing to see all of humanity wiped out. Some nights Ana still dreams of those terrible battlefields, of being young and incredibly afraid but so, so determined, the fires and destruction she, Jack and Gabe had stormed through together, right alongside Reinhardt, Liao and Torbjörn.
The situation, the world, has changed, but in the end how different is it for Winston and Lena now? Overwhelming odds, no reason to continue other than it being the right thing.]
We could have died at any time back then, [she says, her voice somewhere distant, eye set on the desert stretching out beneath the cave. It's obvious she's still lost in those memories.] Yet we didn't. And we didn't let the possibility of it stop us, because the world needed us.
[She refocuses, comes back to the present, returns her attention to Jack.]

[Was it, though? Shitty things are happening--Jack isn't going to argue that, but some of those things are his problem, not theirs, and he still thinks it pales in comparison to what they went through during the Crisis. Bringing back Overwatch without piecing together what happened to it in the first place is not the answer. Winston will only make the same mistakes, because he doesn't know what went wrong. 76 has heard the message. The oversimplified understanding of Overwatch's fall. Acting like it was the big bad government tearing their family apart, not the cancerous internal sedition that Jack himself let go unchecked.
He frowns deeply. It's clear that he doesn't buy into this kind of thing anymore.]
Did you answer his message?
[Do you plan to? He asks that cautiously, like he's not sure what to expect. She's certainly talking like she supports what they're doing, and he'd be surprised if she hasn't at least considered it. Selfishly, he worries that she plans to choose them over him, and the thought of her leaving rankles him. He only just got her back.]

The question has her shaking her head, a soft chuckle slipping out. There's a familiar teasing tone to her voice when she answers.]
If I went back to Overwatch, who would be there to bail you out of trouble?
[And it's clear that Jack needs someone watching his back, now more than ever. As much as she supports Winston and Lena, Jack needs her even more. It's terrible enough that she wasn't there at Zürich; she knows the what if of that particular event will haunt her days, just as much as seeing Amélie's face on the wrong end of her scope does. All she can do is be there for him now.]

I did okay for a while.
[Six years of either gearing up for or executing vigilante nonsense, not counting time without Ana but before Overwatch was put to rest, but there's humor in it because they both know full well they're better together.]
